TalentWorld is recruiting an experienced Purchasing Manager in downtown Halifax, NS for one of its valued partners.

This role is ideal for a procurement professional who is hands-on, detail-driven, and comfortable managing purchasing operations from RFQs through contract execution. You will be actively involved in vendor negotiations, supplier relationships, and day-to-day purchasing decisions that directly support operations, projects, and capital initiatives.

This position blends purchasing leadership with practical execution and is best suited for someone who enjoys being closely involved with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and procurement processes. This is not a purely administrative or transactional purchasing role.

In this position, you will lead purchasing and procurement activities, oversee vendor contracts and negotiations, and support operational and project teams to ensure materials, services, and supplies are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and to specification.

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all purchasing and procurement activities for materials, supplies, and services across operations and project sites

  • Manage the RFQ (Request for Quote) process, including preparing RFQs, collecting supplier responses, and conducting pricing and quality evaluations

  • Negotiate vendor pricing, terms, contracts, and service agreements to ensure value, quality, and reliability

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers

  • Supervise and support a purchasing coordinator responsible for day-to-day procurement activities

  • Monitor material quality, inventory levels, and purchasing controls across multiple sites

  • Prepare and manage vendor contracts and procurement documentation using Yardi Systems Software

  • Support project management and capital initiatives by providing purchasing oversight and coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve procurement processes, cost controls, and operational efficiency

Purchasing Manager Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience using Yardi Systems Software is considered an asset

  • Background in construction, property operations, facilities, or hospitality environments is preferred

  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative, professional approach

  • Ability to work full time in-office with occasional site visits

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
