TalentWorld is recruiting a Financial Operations Analyst in Calgary, Alberta for one of our clients.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in settlements and invoicing activities promptly and accurately.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate understanding and application of electricity pool settlement processes.
- Maintain compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls, compliance procedures, and internal policies related to settlements and invoicing.
- Manage small projects and growth deliverables while meeting operational targets and deadlines.
- Work both independently and as part of a team, providing backup and support to colleagues as needed.
- Monitor receivables and ensure payments are received on time and accurately allocated.
- Maintain and update a payment calendar for effective cash forecasting.
- Assist accountants with variance analysis and provide explanations for financial results.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and optimization in settlements and invoicing procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in Energy Marketing, commodities trading, or the power industry.
- Proficiency in Excel and database querying (SQL, VBA).
- Experience with ETRM systems like Allegro, Horizon, or SAP is preferred.
- Understanding of Sarbanes Oxley controls and compliance procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot independently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
- Capacity to manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables while ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Familiarity with process automation tools, particularly with RPA, is a plus.
- Understanding of financial markets and settlement processes is beneficial.
- Salary: $45HR - $60HR
- Benefits: 40 hours weekly, Full-time, Contract, Hybrid
- Schedule: 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday to Friday
- Other: 6 months contract, possibility of extension, Career growth
